SAP Webinar : Mastering Topic Taxonomies for Scalable Event-Driven Architectures
A single poorly named topic can break downstream consumers, trigger routing surprises, and make growth painful. These mistakes are common, and they are fixable once a clear taxonomy is in place. This session gives SAP developers, integration architects, and event-driven practitioners a practical, opinionated path to get topic structure right from day one.
Join Solace Developer Advocate Hari Rangarajan and SAP Developer Advocate Antonio Maradiaga for a hands-on webinar focused on topic taxonomy best practices in SAP Advanced Event Mesh. A topic is the structured address that routes an event from producer to consumer. A topic taxonomy is the deliberate, hierarchical naming convention that makes those addresses predictable, governable, and reusable across teams and systems.
We start with a concise primer that clarifies what topics are in SAP Advanced Event Mesh, why naming decisions shape routing and subscriptions, and how a single off-pattern name can ripple into broken consumers downstream. From there, you will follow a live Event Portal walkthrough inside an application domain that contrasts solid patterns with common anti-patterns. Flat, opaque, or overly generic topic strings lead to real problems: failed event discovery, fan-out explosions, and governance headaches that compound as your system scales. You will see the impact in real time, and you can ask questions as we iterate on designs.
Next, we look at SAP S/4HANA. Its native business events ship with a topic structure that aligns with proven taxonomy principles, which helps teams extend consistently and integrate without reinventing conventions.
We close with queue naming conventions: clear rules for labeling durable message queues so teams can read, operate, and evolve them confidently across environments. You will see the decision trade-offs and a concrete example in the Event Portal.
What you will learn:
How to design a scalable, hierarchical topic taxonomy for SAP Advanced Event Mesh
The most common topic anti-patterns, why they happen, and how to avoid them
How SAP S/4HANA native events align with best-practice topic structures
Queue naming conventions: guidelines, decision trade-offs, and a live Event Portal walkthrough
How to use the Event Portal application domain view to govern and validate your event landscape
Save your seat and bring your use cases for the live Q&A.
